Justin McCollum: American Plumber Stories

How did you get started in the plumbing trade?

I was bound to be a blue collar worker it just runs in the blood. My cousin got me started in 2019 and we took off from there. 

What do you like most about your work as a plumber?

Doing residential or commercial swapping things out like water heaters and such and making the new install look absolutely amazing. Even new construction. I love taking pride in my work. The customers reactions just put the cherry on top. 

What advice do you have for the younger generation entering the plumbing trade? 

As you learn, buy tools along the way. It’ll help you a lot for when you get into a truck you won’t be stuck without them. Take your first 2 years of learning and grind every last day. Have a good dispatch app. And good pricing.
