Lucy Sabota: American Plumber Stories

How did you get started in the plumbing trade?
Growing up watching my grandpa run a successful business encouraged me to go out on jobs with him and get to learn! I was able to work for him while in high school, which then led to me loving plumbing. Just last month I passed my plumbing journeyman test at 18 yrs old.
What do you like most about your work as a plumber?
I love the rewarding feeling of being able to help or fix a plumbing problem for a customer. Plumbing is also different every day. It never gets boring!
What advice do you have for the younger generation entering the plumbing trade?
Being only 18 and a female in the trade, I would say I should go for it! Give the trade a shot, and not be afraid! Have confidence in yourself and try to learn as much as possible; never be scared to ask questions!
