Patricia Contreras: American Plumber Stories

How did you get started in the plumbing trade?
I took a chance at the worst and/ or most risky time, March of 2020, just 2 weeks before Covid hit. I left the field of work I had been in already for 10 years, taking a chance on landing a career but also knowing I had zero experience in.
What do you like most about your work as a plumber?
Everything!! Even when it gets stressful, there's always so much to learn from and me coming in " green" and a female in a predominantly male field, I have obstacles and challenges left and right at times, but, I can say this Trade really did grow on to me and changed my life COMPLETELY and all for the better. Even saved my life, to be honest.
What advice do you have for the younger generation entering the plumbing trade?
I'd tell them to GO FOR IT. Go and don't look back!
