Craig Childress: American Plumber Stories

Read his American Plumber story!

How did you get started in the plumbing trade?

I went to a vocational high school and fell in love with plumbing as a freshman. I’ve been doing plumbing ever since.

What do you like most about your work as a plumber?

I love installing work. Larger renovations where I can showcase my piping are one of my favorites. I love the problem-solving aspect of plumbing, also. There’s something very satisfying about solving an issue for a customer.

What advice do you have for the younger generation entering the plumbing trade?

Never stop learning. Our equipment and tools are constantly evolving. There are numerous branches of the plumbing industry, so there is always something new to learn. Make sure to always wear your PPE. We have one body, and we must take care of it to last in the trades.
